Tips for Parents

1.  Make sure your child has a quiet place to study at home.

2.  Devote a time for studying daily (At least 1 hour).

3.  Assist your child with organizing book bag, study materials, bedroom etc. For students, being organized is particularly important since it helps them learn how to prioritize activities, set and achieve goals and reduce stress. Having good organizational skills also makes it easier to collaborate with others and helps increase productivity and efficiency.

4.  Reduce screen time activities to 1  (one) hour per day.  Early data from a landmark National Institutes of Health ( NIH) study that began in 2018 indicates that children who spent two hours a day on screen-time activities scored lower on language and thinking tests and children with more than seven hours a day of screen time experienced thinning of the brain's cortex, the area of the brain related to critical thinking and reasoning.   Screen time activities include but are not limited to:

  • Watching TV

  • Using smart phone and  playing video games

  • Texting or chatting

  • Visiting social media apps:  YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, etc.

5.  Ask your child about daily lessons and require him/her to provide meaningful responses.
